Question: One time, something went wrong in my life. So, I questioned God why this event took place--- isn’t everything supposed to work out when one has a close relationship with Him

God’s answer:

This is My blessing in disguise.

You see My writing on the wall. I Am very obvious.

Meaning: We often associate God’s grace with “good things”. God’s answer does not always come wrapped in a beautiful package.

The key to discernment is to keep in prayer. As you develop a deep and intimate bond with God, you will recognize the blessings behind events that on the surface may seem negative. You will not fear or be discouraged for you know that everything will pan out in the end.

An interesting tidbit: The expression “see the writing on the wall” is actually based on a bible story. It was much later that God explained that the wall in the sculpture stands for the wailing wall of Jerusalem where Jews pray and insert their prayer petitions.

Question: So, if your answer to our prayer can be either pleasant or unpleasant (positive or negative), how then do we know whether or not something is Your answer to our prayer?

God’s answer:

My amazing grace

My good things come to those who wait.

Meaning: Only time will tell. You know the work of God from the fruit it bears. Here God once again reminds us that His answers unfold over time. In the process of unfolding there will be highs and lows. We have a tendency to associate “miracles” with instant results. God’s answer to our prayers is part and parcel of His ultimate will (for all to be one in Him)- it is an integrated whole. A life with God is a life of prayer. We have a tendency to associate praying as a one-time asking. Prayer must be a way of life, like breathing in and breathing out, for it is in prayer that we connect and continue to be connected to God. If you keep to prayer and be true in your conviction of “God’s will be done”- everything comes together beautifully in the end. The next Chapter Living your faith expounds on this.
